Daily Progress Post 3/23/09
Today I worked on my work cited page and getting everything organized when I work on it when I get home I will finish the second front. Then when everything is done I will go to the next front. Then I will move to the movie maker program to group everything together.

Daily Progress Post 3/11/09
Today I worked on the Plan and I worked on the Cited page. By the end of the week I would have like to been nearly complete with all of the troops on the battle field. I was thinking on how I was going to tape the battle I was thinking that I should tape one thing at a time like one front and save it then make another front and save it and keep doing that till it all comes together. It might be easier im not sure I will have to check it out.
Plan
My plan for the rest of the time for this project is to get all of the troops layed out on the battle field because im really excited about tweaking everything. Also when I am done with tweaking I will put all of it on movie maker so I can mix all of the movies together and create 1 giant consisting of many scenes and clips so it wont be so boring. But after I got everything done I really dont know what I should have like should I have just a video with me speaking in the background telling what is going on. I really want to know what im suppose to have at the end of this project. Can you tell me
Thanks
Thanks
Cited page
As of today I have used a few index cards for my project the index cards that I have used are Index Card # 5, Index Card # 15, Index Card # 1, Index Card # 18, Index Card # 27, Index Card # 20, Index Card # 19, Index Card # 16 these sites consist of tactical information that I need right now for me to make the battle scene and these seem to be the most helpful.
Status Report Assignment as of 3/11/09
1. On the project so far I have all of my index cards done and all of the daily progress post too. I also have in the battle scene I have Moscow completely done and the town of Borodino where the main fight scene was. At Borodino I have nearly 1000 standard Russian front line troops set up almost perfectly.
2. The stuff I have left to do is getting all of the forces on the battlefield so then I can tweak everything. The one thing I have to decide is if I want the troops of each side to only take one shot and then they die and if I were to do that I would have to add more troops because they are going to fall faster. Or should I have less troops and have them take more hits. The same thing for the calvary like for the calvary battles should there be a long fight or really short one.
3. The hardest thing so far is getting the scenery just right because I really like to make every battle very accurate and that is really tough to do because I really havent found that many images of what Borodino looked like. What is also really difficult is making all of the troops move in all the correct positions because naturally they want to move to engage the enemy so I need to fix that.
4. The easiest part of the project so far is getting information like tactics wise because there are thousands of websites for what I need so it really wasnt that difficult for me to get all of the index cards all done.
5. Something I would do differently is try to get to know Windows Vista Movie Maker HD program better because its going to be very difficult to get everything right. Like I would like to of had more experience with the windows version of movie maker because the only experience I have had is on the Macontosh movie maker and the one for Windows is different but I think it will be ok.
6. Before spring break I would like to have every unit on the battle field so that I can start to tweak things after I comeback from vacation. I would like to start taping the battles by the start of school after spring break. Then I could put all of the files in movie after all of that I have to combine all of the movies together.

Today I finished all of my index cards and im about ready to site all of my sites so I can narrow down the information and get the most accurate information to use for the project so it will be easier to make the project and answer questions at the end of the presentation.

I like this site because it turns to the Russians. A guy named Mikhail Kutuzov was a field marshall. He was highly experienced and fought in many battles. I think he made one of the most important descisions for Russia and that is retreating from Borodino because if the Russians didnt retreat all of Russia would of been taken over because there will be no one over to defend or retailiate. Otherwise known as counterattacking. I really have to give the Russians credit they fought off a super power that had dominated all of Europe for queit a long time. They did it with nature and pulling back to hyperextend Napoleon and it worked beautifully.

I like this site because it explains the exact location of Borodino in relation to Moscow. It also shows a picture of a railroad near Borodino. There is a major mistake made giving Napoleon the ability to build up defenses so that victory for the Russian's would be much more difficult. But the Russians were confident they had winter on there side. Even though the Russians lost this Battle they won the War. Which really if you think about it thats all that counts.

I like google maps because it is a good place to get images. What I found out was that Borodino has a monument and a memorial. Borodino looks like it a place perfect for battle its open and there is good ground lots of hills. When I think of Borodino I really think it looks like Witchita Kansas there is some hills and some trees and lots of land.

When trying to identify the timeframe of the types of troops used I look at the uniforms and these uniforms are extremely fancy like it looks like whoever makes these puts lots of time into them because of the layers the different types or fabrics and string and it all looks nice. But really I dont see the point of bright uniform colors. It exposes yourself to the enemy more which really doesnt help any.

What really doesnt help Napoleon is the medication that their Medics had they really didnt have any anti biotics or any fake blood so they thought the best way to get rid of the risk or infection or death was amputation. Which makes sense a little but today we have many more options for patients if they want to keep a body part if wounded.

I like this site because there is a person there describing the noise and the terror or Borodino its like he was on both sides describing what was happening. Its preety grusome cause he said the noises I have heared were impossible to describe. I really think war is unimaginable unless you have experienced it. I really think this is probably the most bloodiest one I have heard of the Battle of Borodino.

This site is from the History channel website. I like this site because it says something about negotiations and how Napoleon tried to get Alexander to surrender so that they could claim all of Russia but Alexander Refused to surrender hoping that he could starve the French army which it worked. Napoleon was forced to surrender.

Today I worked on Index Cards and what was interesting when I was researching is that the Napoleon Era hit a downfall. The leading cause or the start was the assult on Russia. It was like a chain of events that really led to the fall of Napoleon.

Napoleon suprisingly made many mistakes and it cost him the war and his conquest for power Napoleon was underestimating the magnitude of the Russian winters also he underestimated the supply amount what he needed to do is have a steady supply going which he didnt have. Hungry troops arent good troops weaker and the morale of the troops is also. Which led to a humiliating retreat back to france with no prize.

This site explains what happend after the French retreated from Russia and how they got attack from multiple directions at there home ground at France and eventually they couldnt hold and France fell. So its interesting a series of events caused the fall of the Napoleon which I think still impacts Frances reputation today.

Aftermath
I like this site because it explains what happend after the invasion of Russia in 1812 and really what is interesting is that Napoleon era really hit a halt after the failure to secure Russia because the army really never reached a full strength again. Also the Napoleon era was hurting because of Napoleons failure I think he was banished from France.

Weapons
The weapons that were used were like a musket and the Russians used lancers which were very effective at screening the enemy. Napoleon had some of the finest calvary and military mainly the morale every soldier had good morale because of the person that was leading them which gave them a edge on the battle field. He also had very good weapon technology which he used to his advantage. France was rich enough to get all of this for him.

Napoleons Family
Napoleon was the second son of eight children. His parents names were Carlos and Maria Letizia. What was interesting is that the first two died and so the third son was the first to survive and the fourth son was Napoleon really. Out of the nine kids that they had six survived. What also interestin about the website is that they list all of the kids that they had and what they did and just explaining a little more about them.

Campaign Dialog
I like this site because it shows what the generals were saying and think at the time of the front and expalins what the battle field looked like and I thought it was interesting on what the Russian general said because he said preety much the only way to win was to have a strong military. I dont think that that they could have won. What I would have done probably was to push to stay on defense and not allow the French to push through like with trenches and little or no calvary.

I really like the picture of a part in Borodino because I really need to know what the landscape looked like because you can put trees and mountains in so I needed to know if it was hilly or flat stuff like that. Just looking at all of the pictures I have looked at I found that many of the troops were on horses I thought that was crazy.

The Battle of Borodino
I like this site because it narrowed my project down so that I can be more specific instead of doing all of the Napoleons campaigns I just did one. I like the Battle of Borodino because of its scale it was emensly large. This site also says how many troops participated in the fight and a total of 250000 troops were fighting so this battle was definatly worth the making.
