They also say Among the highlights of this collection are the detailed (and previously classified) U.S. government accounts of the infamous military assault by the Chinese government on pro-democracy demonstrators in and around Tiananmen Square in Beijing in June 1989.
5. and 6. I believe this because according to this website says that China and the United States had a relationship and that information was told to America so they have evidence this Massacre actually happend and its purpose was for pro democracy.

4. It talks about rioting about the Tiananmes square massacre and how passionite people still are about this whole situation. Over thirty people died in this riot its preety serious stuff going on their in Bejing. The protesters where Tibet exile groups it was a Tibetian headquarters in Lhasa.
5. and 6. Yes, I believe in this because its news from a news website and also they have some pictures of the rioting and I believe it because I really think that people still feel very strongly about the Tiananmen Square Massacre that they would protest against it again because they felt it was wrong in such that lots of people were killed.

5. and 6. I believe this because all of the information looks to be on with other sites that I have looked at. Also its good because it gives statisics like what branch of the military went and helped resolve the piece.

4. This site says that
China's 15-year long news blackout on the Tiananmen Square massacre slipped for a few hours yesterday when People's Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist party, reported for the first time on its website that the authorities had carried out a "violent crackdown" on pro-democracy
Which tells me that it was an accident that the public got to it and that things are going to start heating up again about the issue of the Tiananmen Square Massacre.
5. and 6. I believe the Tiananmen Square Massacre really happend but I dont believe that it has been fifteen years that the public has not found about about these tapes that where accidentally released because their has been protest every year about the Tiananmes Square Massacre so the issue is still there with the people and the Chinese Government and their policies.

4. They say Starting in April 1989, protesters of all ages and affiliations across China began leading demonstrations which criticized the Chinese government. Students were particularly involved in these protests across China, although older Chinese took part as well. Tiananmen Square was the site of several protests during this period, including a student hunger strike. The protests grew larger as word spread, and international media descended upon China to report on the issue. Many people suspected that these mass protests would mark a new era in Chinese history.
5. and 6. I believe that this site is true because the information seems to be accurate according to other sites and I think it is wild on how much devotion was actually put into this according to this site older people particiapated which so how much Chinese people wanted change.

5. and 6. I believe this source because it has numerous authors that have edited it and looked at it and that gives me enough proof that this information that they are showing is correct information. The one part that I do not believe is that they say that almost all of the killings were just people pushing and shoving to just get to the square I dont believe that because to my knowledge I though the Chinese soldiers fired opon them.

The world does not know the exact numbers of those killed, wounded or arrested because, sixteen years later, the government of China still has not provided an accounting. Instead, the government has imposed a near complete blackout of information about the event.
5. and 6. They say that people are still serving prison time from the Tinanames Square Massacre. But the part I dont understand is that they say that the government has kept any information on the Tiananmen Square Massacre blacked out from the public but according to other websites they have already accidentally let out the information to the public which apparently causing uprisings.

Censorship is also extremely severe on the Internet.
5. and 6. I believe this because most websites that talk about censoring images and videos from the Tiananmes Square Massacre and this website explains how serious the Chinese government is about the whole incident. What is also new is there has been heavy censorship on the internet this is an example of the Chinese government limiting the open gates for rumors or information getting through.

As the night fell on June 3, 1989, 40,000 soldiers of the 27th Peoples Liberation Army moved into China's capital with orders to crush six weeks of demonstrations and protests by the country's students and workers, and end their demands for political change.
In the preceding weeks, China, and Beijing in particular, had witnessed extraordinary events. A student occupation of Tiananmen Square became the focus for a rising working class movement. Independent Workers' Autonomous Federations were active in numbers of cities. From May 20 the movement continued in defiance of martial law and the central government was divided and paralysed.
5. and 6. I believe this site because I like the statistics that they give in the paragraph like there were 40,000 soldiers that tried to settle the piece there and all of the dates seem to be accurate the only thing I dont like about the site is that its got to much information like dialog and stuff like that.

Compatriots, fellow countrymen who cherish morality, please hear our voices!"
Their hunger strike draws broad public support; many important intellectuals pledge their help. "There's such a feeling in China about food because of the thousands of years of famines that they've had," explains Jan Wong. "… So when the students went on their hunger strike, it really moved people to tears."

4. This site talks about... In May 1989, nearly a million Chinese, mostly young students, crowded into central Beijing to protest for greater democracy and call for the resignations of Chinese Communist Party leaders deemed too repressive. For nearly three weeks, the protesters kept up daily vigils, and marched and chanted. Western reporters captured much of the drama for television and newspaper audiences in the United States and Europe. On June 4, 1989, however, Chinese troops and security police stormed through Tiananmen Square
5. and 6. I believe this site because of the fact that is from History Channel online and what I found that was interesting was that there was nearly 1 million protesters in one square even though the square was big it is still a ton of people.

Hundreds of protesters and bystanders were presumed dead, thousands wounded and imprisoned. From documents smuggled out of China and published in the United States, it appears that factional struggles among China's leaders and the fear of international shame delayed military action.

5. and 6. I believe this site because according to its rights it is from The Washington Post and the pictures seem to be believeable. What was really interesting is that the crowds where so powerful they were blocking off the army to get to the capital building on May 20, 1989 which I think is crazy but believable.

3. The sites credentials are really nothing because it is wikipedia but it does have an about tab so thats about all of the credit I can give them.
4. The site explains the Tiananmen Square like its history when it was built and the location of it. What I think is interesting is that Tiananmen literally means "Gate of Heavenly Peace" yeah about that they had much violence here in its history. What is the coolest about this website though that no other website has is that I have found is that it has a full picture of the Tiananmen Square which when I look at it it is huge I mean its like a perfect place to protest lots of people can fit and they're are buildings around that are significant and with that protesters can draw attention fast.
5. and 6. I believe the site because the picture that the site has seems to be the most eye catching and it seems to be real and I like the information that they have to say about the name "The Gat of Heavenly Peace". I believe it and I think this image would be a good image to show.

3. This sites credentials arent really anything because there are mulitple authors also there really isnt that much of credentials information besides an about us tab.
4. Whats interesting about the site is that it has a caualties toll sort of thing and what is also interesting is that they say that there really isnt an actual number of people that were injured of killed in the protest different sites say different things like. On June 4, the government forcefully dissolved the protests. This left many people injured or dead. The exact number is not known today, different people have different numbers. The Chinese government speaks about 200-300 victims, the New York Times says there were between 300 and 800 and the Chinese Red Cross talks about 2,000 - 3,000.
5. and 6. I believe this site because I think it is true many of the other sites dont really talk about the actual casualties they just show picures of interview people about their experiences and so thats why I believe it because it gives me a mixture of information to use in my powerpoint.

In 1651 (early Qing), the gate was renovated and renamed to its present form. During the Ming and Qing eras, there was no public square at Tiananmen, and instead the area was filled with offices for imperial ministries. These were badly damaged during the Boxer Rebellion and the area was cleared to produce the beginning of Tiananmen Square.
5. and 6. I believe this site because the information that they are giving me is very interesting because no other site talks about in futher detail about when it was made or how large it is according to all of the websites that I have found. I believe that this website is a keeper because I can put the information of the Tianenmen Square on the slide show so I think it is a overall a good site to use.

4. The site says 1989 protest in Beijing, the culmination of a series of student-led pro-democracy demonstrations in China. The events leading up to the Tiananmen Square protest began with the death of Hu Yaobang, a former general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), in April 1989. Hu had become a hero to Chinese liberals after he refused to halt unrest in January 1987. Following Hu’s death, students began peaceful memorial demonstrations in Shanghai, Beijing, and other cities. The memorial escalated into a prodemocracy movement, with protesters demanding the removal of China’s paramount leader Deng Xiaoping and other Communist officials.
5. and 6. I believe the site because it is unique in a way that it explains how it really got to start like what drove the protesters in the first place to going into a frenzy and I think this site would be useful for me to put on the powerpoint to explain how things came about.

1. Our right is Freedom of Press
2. The right exsist because American people want to express ideas without being stopped also they put it in place because it controls the power it keeps everyting balanced like if the president where to do something wrong the press would find out about it which then could trickle down the people would know and then the press could investigate more.
3. I can exersise my right by publishing my opinions about things in the school news paper and in the St. Louis Post Dispatch so I could possibly make a difference with something in the future like Global Warming opinions.
4. The limitations are that you can publish false information, you cant exchange things with the enemy if you are a reporter all of your publications are revised by the miltary before it gets to the public. You cannot post threats to anyone.
5. If I had to give up this right I would want the freedom to still be able to post opinions I would also like more funding to Global Warming so that it could be helped or slowed down. I would like the military to stop advancing so much which is soaking up our funds to do other stuff. Last and most importantly I would want to have more part in the decsions that America makes because I think if the government wants to take something away from us we should have a say in it.

Fact #5

Source#1 http://www.fixglobalwarmingnow.org/
A. Fix Global Warming is the goal for this site and there solution is simple
B. The credentials that it has contact information it also has good concept.
C. I think it is a reliable source because they give a little statistics to go along
D. They say that all you got to do is plant more trees because C02 is the problem. ONE tree will offset (remove) about 1 ton of CO2 from the enviroment in its lifetime. Thats just ONE tree.
E. I believe it it makes sense and it is really simple if we plant enough trees and limit cutting we could really slow down global warming maybe even stop it. But we have to find the motivation to do this and this really takes the whole world in involvement.
Source#2 http://www.fightglobalwarming.com/page.cfm?tagID=263
A. The site is about fixing global warming and this one stood out to me.
B. The credentials that the site has are that it has sources at the bottom to go to for reference to back up there information.
C. I think its a reliable site because there are not many advertisements indicating that it is a safer webpage. They also have a about us tab so you can see where they publish their information.
D. They say the way to fix global warming is to buy more fuel efficent cars because the more efficent they are the less gas they burn the better it is on the enviroment.
10 mpg
1,200 gallons
13.6 tons/year
$2,760
I find this interesting for the SUV and Truck people out there this chart says that you but 13.6 tons of pollution into the atmosphere in one year that is really bad.
E. I believe this because its all true fuel efficent cars put way less greenhouse gas pollution into the atmosphere. So if we were to all get more fuel efficent cars global warming could start to slow down.
Source#3 http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2007/0407-possible_fix_for_global_warming.htm
A. The site is Science Daily.com
B. Its credentials are that it is a science news actual site and all of the information that it has are articles.
C. I think it is a credible site because there is also a video posted right there to see global warming solution that they have come up with. Also it is credible because the site is a scientific news site.
D. They say that we can produce algea to reduce C02 emtions because they take in C02 and turn it in to oxygen and if we have enough of these we could help the atmosphere a ton and it doesnt cost that much they claim to do this algea idea. Also the algea can be used to make bio diesel fuel.
E. It seems like a win win I would believe that this would work because it seems to be a good idea. I think we should carry on with this idea because it is cost efficent.
2. I believe that we can fix global warming because humans have been known to adapt and fix problems and we do if we have the will power if we have the will power to do this and fix global warming we will suceed.

A. This site is about if the Earth is going through a natural cycle or not.
B. The credentials that it has is CNN Website its a official news website and it has a author.
C. Its got information regarding if the Earth is going through a natural cycle or not. By getting peoples opinions on it and data from intruments.
D. The site says that it is global warming and that it doesnt make sense that it would go up this much in increase because results are off the charts.
E. I believe it because of the polar bears and the ice caps melting I think it is logical that its not a natural cycle because when animals are going endangered really for no reason you know something is wrong and its the global temperature average that is hurting them.
Source#2

C. The site is good because it has contact information and it has a about us tab. Also they show a picture of the museum so you can see what it looks like and there is evidence that it is not made up.
D. They say if the balances are right with C02 levels the earth will be fine but the problem is that there is to much C02 in the atmosphere and the earth cannot repair its self with that high of C02 levels.
E. I believe it because in the movie Al Gore talks about it how the earth breaths every year and if there is to much C02 it litterally has a hard time breathing.

D. They say that it is natural for the earth to be going through these periods of moderate warming they say it is 1500 year cycle that the earth is going through and they also say that humans really arent that much at fault here.
E. I dont believe it because those land masses or ice masses where there when Pangea used to be the main continent so if they are disappearing because of global warming then I dont think it is a natural cycle.
2. I believe that the earth isnt going through a natural cycle because of the fact of the major continents that are melting like Antartica and Greenland and the Northern terrirory if they are melting how is anyone going to say that is natural for that to be happening.

Fact #3

Source#1 http://action.foe.org/t/3877/content.jsp?content_KEY=4295
A. This site is mainly about precipitation levels on the rise
B. The credentials that the site has is contact information and reliable information and who they are what do they do stuff like that.
C. The information is accurate because its seems to be the same as the other sites. Like data wise
D. This site actually disagrees a little with the fact that global warming is making this severe wheather so they kinda disagree that it is all global warming that is responsible for ramdom wheather.
E. I disagree because I think its all global warming because what else is there to blame for the random wheather changes. Because naturally when the water warms up then the hurricanes increase in power and that has been proved.
Source# 2 http://globalwarmingunchecked.com/default.aspx
A. This site is about global warming and some of the side effects that can come from it
B. The credentials that the site has are contact information and reliable information that looks good and correct.
C. The information that they are using is question that are brought up and they are answering them in order like prepitation amounts. Also change in pollution and storms amounts all of that.
D. They says that precipitation is greatly increasing all around the world and they give statisics on it also. Like the annual snow fall in New England has increased by 25% and they more information like this that they have that proves that precipitation amounts have increased.
E. I believe it because I am experiencing it right now I look at the radar quiet often and the amount of rain in some places is crazy and I blame global warming for this problem
Source#3 http://www.environmentgeorgia.org/reports/global-warming/global-warming-reports/when-it-rains-it-pours-global-warming-and-the-rising-frequency-of-extreme-precipitation-in-the-united-states
A. This site is a site of enviormental concerns made by people in Georgia
B. The credentials are the different types information shown like question and answer stuff which looks good.
C. The information is good because its exactly what it says very self explainitory like it answers the question well
D. It says that all of this global warming that is happening they are saying the durastic increases in storms and rainfall is possible that could kill many people.
E. I believe this informaition because I can see it happening with all of the tornadoes and hurricanes. Like I see more of them and it makes sense with warmer temperatures means more severe wheather.
2. I believe that Global Warming is causeing the random wheather changes it cant be natural because the newest information is off the charts and I am experiencing it right now so I am a witness that is recongnizing the change.

Fact # 2

Source #1 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4570557/
A. This sites credentials are that it is from MSNBC so I would think that the information is reliable.
B. The credentials that it has a author that you can contact. Also the the site is a news site where only the press and authorized people can put stuff on.
C. The site has good information because there getting data from a labatory in Hawaii so the results are accurate and it makes sense.
D. They say with the time it will continue to go up because the O Zone is being depleted so it will continue to go up and they aparently get the readings from a Volcano. But right now it is at a peak.
E. I believe it because everyone is talking about it and it comes from MSNBC and I trust them and the information that comes from this website. I still think its crazy on how high C02 levels actually are. Like in China they are booming with pollution and CO2 levels
Source #2 http://www.celsias.com/article/co2-levels-hit-new-peak-as-greenland-ice-sheet-mel/
A. The site is Celsias which talks about just CO2 level readings
B. This sites credentials are their contact information and they have data readings which look to be good.
C. There information looks tto be good like data whise and they are also giving quotes from some people about it most likely scientist
D. This site is saying that it is going up last time they checked in the C02 levels from like 383 to 394 parts per million. So they say it is increasing.
E. I believe it because I think the site has good readings like information wise also to expain what they mean of these increases and I really think it is happening.
Source #3 http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/sports/co2-levels-must-be-reduced-as-they-are-already-in-danger-zone_100116456.html
A. This site is Thailand news site
B. The credentials it has our contact information and a tag for about us so I think they know what they are talking about.
C. The information that they are getting is a little higher than the other site but it is ok because they are taking different measurements from different parts of the world.
D. They say that if the level of Co2 goes from what we have now which is like 394 parts per million to 450 parts per million that will be a severe danger zone that can treaten tons of life.
E. I believe the readings and I do think that if it does get to 450 it will threaten all life because 394 is taking a toll now I cant even predict what its going to be like later.
2. I believe this fact because I can see it happening with animals becoming endangered and the O zone depleteing its real and we have to do something about it before its to late.

Fact # 1

Fact: Greenhouse gases are the main problem?
Source #1 http://www.globalwarming.org.in/causes-of-global-warming.php
A. Global Warming.org is site. Or the host of the site.
B. It really only has URL's for the informaion that it shows before you start reading the article.
C. Its ok because it has URL's and it also has a publisher or a maker of the website. Called FISH CEO which is a mobile marketing.
D. It does agree with him because it says that C02 is the major problem and that is a greenhouse gas.
E. I agree because they have statistics to back it like emitions like cars, coal, natural gas. Like it gives percentages on how much C02 it gives off by the amount of energy it takes to make it. Like there is always a trade off to make something you have to give something up.
Source #2 http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science_and_impacts/science/global-warming-faq.html#What_does_the_greenhouse_effect_have_to_
A. It is the Union of Concerned Scientist is the host.
B. The credentials are contact information and information accuracy.
C. Its got contact information and reliable information that is useful.
D. This site says that Greenhouse gases are the problem but really we are. You see we strengthed the power of greenhouse gases it would be totally fine if it would be natural but its not.
E. I believe that because the information matches most of the other sites that is right and I like it also because it was created by a group of scientist that were concerned about global warming.
Source #3 http://www.koshland-science-museum.org/exhibitgcc/causes02.jsp
A. Its a science museum website so the information is reliable
B. Its got contact information like addresses
C. I would say it is really credible because it is actual museum information that they are putting up on the website.
D. The website says that greenhouse gases are responsible for global warming but we caused that to happen we caused some uprisings of it.
E. I believe this information because the diagrams that it is using look accurate enough to believe that they are fully explaining how greenhouse gases work.
2. I believe this fact because I really see it happening right now you can see it with cars and propane and oil companies they are releasing their waste into the atmosphere and polluting the Earth.

Middle East Conflict Questions

1. The United States got involved really with the middle east because of the terrorist attacks at 9/11 which imediatley turned our attention to the middle east where Al Quida was.

2. Well the United States has been in the War in Iraq since 2001 because we wanted to eliminate the treat of another terrorist attack. Plus we are still in the war today searching for a terrorist leader. The United States fells that they need to stop any threat imediatley by force and overwelming power defending the borders was the goal of America and we would like to keep it that way. But the problem is the economy and oil has become an issue with war comes increases in prices and when that happens people get uneasy thats why I think we have been staying in Iraq to long causeing lots of wear and tear on the people.

3. Al Quida terrorist organization any organization out their training troops to kill and destroy things. Actually the whole middle east doesnt like us because they dont like our lifestyle so really they dont like any of us which really drives them to our country to attack and really gets our attention and we point fingers at them and raid their countries to kill the terrorist groups.

4. Isreal is one of our most reliable friends because we help them a ton and they buy a ton of our military equipment and if someone where to attack them we would imediatley step in so that they dont get trampled.

5. We want to reastablish a government out there in Iraq so they can run there own country again and eliminate the uprisings and the violence in the streets like "police". Which we were doing most of the war actually.

6. Well we want Peace and the conflict there has been going on for centuries we really cant do anything about.

7. We are not going to give up freedom for democracy around the world. The Citizens goal is to start saving for the future instead of spending.

Refelection Questions

1. I learned that Napoleons awesome V formation was dominant because it had gave Napoleon a major advantage on the battlefield especially with speed. He also had a exellent Calvary and his morale of the troops which extremely high. Which gave him a huge advantage on the battlefield.

2. Well really my question was the Napoleon tactics and what really made him sucessful.

3. His formations and morale advantage gave him the edge and really thats the answer because thats really all you needed because he was the smartest and he had the most troops.

4. The Final Project answered that question because I showed his dominant formations through battlescenes.

5. Like when I was making the 8 different frontations I discussed how the formation worked and what there strengths and weaknesses of the formations. As you can see in the video that I made the Russians were badly beaten down Napoleons quickness.

6. I thought that I did good on making the DVD because of the quality of the program to also the 37 dollar program FRAPS that I purchase was totally worth it because it saved it as a AVI file so it was at the highest quality.

7. I think I rushed it a little because I was a perfectionist to much and not getting enough done quick enough so I had to start rushing it. So I think it could of been better like scenery.

8. More front but less time on the video it was a little long I should of cut it down a little but still of had the same amount of Fronts.

9. I really wouldnt change anything because I thought it was one of the best projects I have ever done. Because I knew what I was doing and I liked doing it.

10. I think I deserve an A because I worked over 25 hours on the project and it was hard to do and very frusterating. So thats why I think I deserve and A on the project.

6.

Daily Progress Post 3/23/09

Today I worked on my work cited page and getting everything organized when I work on it when I get home I will finish the second front. Then when everything is done I will go to the next front. Then I will move to the movie maker program to group everything together.

Daily Progress Post 3/11/09

Today I worked on the Plan and I worked on the Cited page. By the end of the week I would have like to been nearly complete with all of the troops on the battle field. I was thinking on how I was going to tape the battle I was thinking that I should tape one thing at a time like one front and save it then make another front and save it and keep doing that till it all comes together. It might be easier im not sure I will have to check it out.

Plan

My plan for the rest of the time for this project is to get all of the troops layed out on the battle field because im really excited about tweaking everything. Also when I am done with tweaking I will put all of it on movie maker so I can mix all of the movies together and create 1 giant consisting of many scenes and clips so it wont be so boring. But after I got everything done I really dont know what I should have like should I have just a video with me speaking in the background telling what is going on. I really want to know what im suppose to have at the end of this project. Can you tell me
Thanks

Cited page

As of today I have used a few index cards for my project the index cards that I have used are Index Card # 5, Index Card # 15, Index Card # 1, Index Card # 18, Index Card # 27, Index Card # 20, Index Card # 19, Index Card # 16 these sites consist of tactical information that I need right now for me to make the battle scene and these seem to be the most helpful.

Status Report Assignment as of 3/11/09

1. On the project so far I have all of my index cards done and all of the daily progress post too. I also have in the battle scene I have Moscow completely done and the town of Borodino where the main fight scene was. At Borodino I have nearly 1000 standard Russian front line troops set up almost perfectly.

2. The stuff I have left to do is getting all of the forces on the battlefield so then I can tweak everything. The one thing I have to decide is if I want the troops of each side to only take one shot and then they die and if I were to do that I would have to add more troops because they are going to fall faster. Or should I have less troops and have them take more hits. The same thing for the calvary like for the calvary battles should there be a long fight or really short one.

3. The hardest thing so far is getting the scenery just right because I really like to make every battle very accurate and that is really tough to do because I really havent found that many images of what Borodino looked like. What is also really difficult is making all of the troops move in all the correct positions because naturally they want to move to engage the enemy so I need to fix that.

4. The easiest part of the project so far is getting information like tactics wise because there are thousands of websites for what I need so it really wasnt that difficult for me to get all of the index cards all done.

5. Something I would do differently is try to get to know Windows Vista Movie Maker HD program better because its going to be very difficult to get everything right. Like I would like to of had more experience with the windows version of movie maker because the only experience I have had is on the Macontosh movie maker and the one for Windows is different but I think it will be ok.

6. Before spring break I would like to have every unit on the battle field so that I can start to tweak things after I comeback from vacation. I would like to start taping the battles by the start of school after spring break. Then I could put all of the files in movie after all of that I have to combine all of the movies together.

Daily Progress Post 3/9/09

Today I finished all of my index cards and im about ready to site all of my sites so I can narrow down the information and get the most accurate information to use for the project so it will be easier to make the project and answer questions at the end of the presentation.

Index Card # 30

http://www.encyclopedia.com/topic/Mikhail_Ilarionovich_Kutuzov.aspx

I like this site because it turns to the Russians. A guy named Mikhail Kutuzov was a field marshall. He was highly experienced and fought in many battles. I think he made one of the most important descisions for Russia and that is retreating from Borodino because if the Russians didnt retreat all of Russia would of been taken over because there will be no one over to defend or retailiate. Otherwise known as counterattacking. I really have to give the Russians credit they fought off a super power that had dominated all of Europe for queit a long time. They did it with nature and pulling back to hyperextend Napoleon and it worked beautifully.

Index Card # 29

http://www.ddg.com/LIS/InfoDesignF97/camilla/borodino.htm

I like this site because it explains the exact location of Borodino in relation to Moscow. It also shows a picture of a railroad near Borodino. There is a major mistake made giving Napoleon the ability to build up defenses so that victory for the Russian's would be much more difficult. But the Russians were confident they had winter on there side. Even though the Russians lost this Battle they won the War. Which really if you think about it thats all that counts.

Index Card # 28

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

I like google maps because it is a good place to get images. What I found out was that Borodino has a monument and a memorial. Borodino looks like it a place perfect for battle its open and there is good ground lots of hills. When I think of Borodino I really think it looks like Witchita Kansas there is some hills and some trees and lots of land.

Daily Progress Post 3/9/09

Today in the library I worked on Index Cards the whole time all I need is three more index cards and I will have thirty. It would be great if you can have some comments for ideas because im running out of them. Thanks

Index Card # 27

http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Barracks/3050/cframe.html

When trying to identify the timeframe of the types of troops used I look at the uniforms and these uniforms are extremely fancy like it looks like whoever makes these puts lots of time into them because of the layers the different types or fabrics and string and it all looks nice. But really I dont see the point of bright uniform colors. It exposes yourself to the enemy more which really doesnt help any.

Index Card # 26

http://www.napoleonguide.com/medical.htm

What really doesnt help Napoleon is the medication that their Medics had they really didnt have any anti biotics or any fake blood so they thought the best way to get rid of the risk or infection or death was amputation. Which makes sense a little but today we have many more options for patients if they want to keep a body part if wounded.

Index Card # 25

http://www.wtj.com/archives/lejeune1.htm

I like this site because there is a person there describing the noise and the terror or Borodino its like he was on both sides describing what was happening. Its preety grusome cause he said the noises I have heared were impossible to describe. I really think war is unimaginable unless you have experienced it. I really think this is probably the most bloodiest one I have heard of the Battle of Borodino.

Index Card # 24

http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history.do?action=Article&id=7020

This site is from the History channel website. I like this site because it says something about negotiations and how Napoleon tried to get Alexander to surrender so that they could claim all of Russia but Alexander Refused to surrender hoping that he could starve the French army which it worked. Napoleon was forced to surrender.

Daily Progress Post 3/8/09

Today I worked on Index Cards and what was interesting when I was researching is that the Napoleon Era hit a downfall. The leading cause or the start was the assult on Russia. It was like a chain of events that really led to the fall of Napoleon.

Sunday, March 8, 2009

Index Card # 23

http://www.fsmitha.com/h3/h34-np4.html

Napoleon suprisingly made many mistakes and it cost him the war and his conquest for power Napoleon was underestimating the magnitude of the Russian winters also he underestimated the supply amount what he needed to do is have a steady supply going which he didnt have. Hungry troops arent good troops weaker and the morale of the troops is also. Which led to a humiliating retreat back to france with no prize.

Index Card # 22

http://www.wtj.com/articles/napsum1/

This site explains what happend after the French retreated from Russia and how they got attack from multiple directions at there home ground at France and eventually they couldnt hold and France fell. So its interesting a series of events caused the fall of the Napoleon which I think still impacts Frances reputation today.

Index Card # 21

http://schools-wikipedia.org/wp/n/Napoleon_I_of_France.htm

Aftermath

I like this site because it explains what happend after the invasion of Russia in 1812 and really what is interesting is that Napoleon era really hit a halt after the failure to secure Russia because the army really never reached a full strength again. Also the Napoleon era was hurting because of Napoleons failure I think he was banished from France.

Index Card # 20

http://www.napoleonguide.com/weapcav.htm

Weapons

The weapons that were used were like a musket and the Russians used lancers which were very effective at screening the enemy. Napoleon had some of the finest calvary and military mainly the morale every soldier had good morale because of the person that was leading them which gave them a edge on the battle field. He also had very good weapon technology which he used to his advantage. France was rich enough to get all of this for him.

Daily Progress Post 3/5/09

Today I worked on more Index Cards and did some research on the features of Windows Vista because im going to make this project on it. Like the program Movie Maker HD has many features that I really want that I can use to crop and combine all of the movies together.

Index Card # 19

http://www.ddg.com/LIS/InfoDesignF98/jsk/napo/napo/family.htm

Napoleons Family

Napoleon was the second son of eight children. His parents names were Carlos and Maria Letizia. What was interesting is that the first two died and so the third son was the first to survive and the fourth son was Napoleon really. Out of the nine kids that they had six survived. What also interestin about the website is that they list all of the kids that they had and what they did and just explaining a little more about them.

Daily Progress Post 3/3/09

Today I worked on more research and then I worked on new Index Cards. Im trying to catch up with that. I will work on it when I get home.

Index Card # 18

http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/riley/787/Napoleon/1812/boro1.html

Campaign Dialog

I like this site because it shows what the generals were saying and think at the time of the front and expalins what the battle field looked like and I thought it was interesting on what the Russian general said because he said preety much the only way to win was to have a strong military. I dont think that that they could have won. What I would have done probably was to push to stay on defense and not allow the French to push through like with trenches and little or no calvary.

Index Card # 17

http://www.ddg.com/LIS/InfoDesignF96/Emin/napoleon/images/russia/battleformoscow.jpg

I really like the picture of a part in Borodino because I really need to know what the landscape looked like because you can put trees and mountains in so I needed to know if it was hilly or flat stuff like that. Just looking at all of the pictures I have looked at I found that many of the troops were on horses I thought that was crazy.

Index Card # 16

http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/74349/Battle-of-Borodino

The Battle of Borodino

I like this site because it narrowed my project down so that I can be more specific instead of doing all of the Napoleons campaigns I just did one. I like the Battle of Borodino because of its scale it was emensly large. This site also says how many troops participated in the fight and a total of 250000 troops were fighting so this battle was definatly worth the making.

Daily Progress Post 2/27/09

Today I worked on Index Cards and trying to make sure everything was tagged and everything done correctly all of the websites were not lineing up on the blogger and delicious so I had to fix that and that took awhile. This weekend Im going to work on the Core of the Project a ton so I could be on the right foot.

Index Card # 15

http://napoleonistyka.atspace.com/Invasion_of_Russia_1812.htm

I like this site because it shows a map of the battlefield and the actual movements by Napoleon. It shows pictures in a museum of the famous war heros of Russia and talking more about some of Russian's key Generals. The Russians were outnumbered nearly 12 to 1 its really crazy.

Index Card # 14

http://web2.airmail.net/napoleon/

I like this picture that it has on this website because it will be some of the very few pictures that I have of him for the project and I like the information it puts on there describing the painting. They also describe the grand army that Napoleon had describing his major defeats and his major victories that Napoleon had on his conquests for power.

Index Card # 13

http://www.napoleon-series.org/military/c_organization.html#russia

Generals and Ranks

I like this site because it shows what the ranks were of the Generals and it showed what they were ranked to like artillery, calvary or a infantry division. I also shows the different manuevers to like formations it just gets me a little more information. When studying this just thinking how could the Russians have held these French off but they did for a while but decided not to fight to the death but retreat and get ready for a counter attack that would happen when the French were weak.

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Daily Progress Post 2/26/09

Today I worked on just the Index Cards and getting more websites this weekend for sure im going to really work on the core of my project because I got a ton of work ahead of me so I got to be prepared.

Index Card # 12

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Russian_Army_during_the_Napoleonic_Wars

Russia's Tactics

Russia's gameplan was really to hold lines they really werent on offensive manuvers they used the best possible defensive strategies possible to hold the Napoleons Armies. But they still couldnt hold them Russia backed down and let them have Moscow there strategy was to have Napoleon hyperextend his armies so that supply wouldnt be good and hopefully the Russian winters would hit them too. It worked then the Russians retaleated.

Index Card # 11

http://countrystudies.us/russia/24.htm

Russia's Climates

Wow Russia has some of the most intense wheather of any country the record low for a town called Verkhoyansk hit at -94 degress Celcius that is -137 degress Farienheit that is insane thats why I think Russia in any war on defense if they hold out long enough they are unstoppable like tremendous "Home Field Advantage".

Index Card # 10

http://www.pbs.org/empires/napoleon/n_war/campaign/page_13.html

The Beginning

I like this site because it explains how this all started and what predictions were going to be made about this war. What was interesting is that Napoleon said that this war would be over in twenty days he thought that sheer force would crumble them very quickly but it really didnt turn out that way. The Russians fought tremendously well in the Borodino battle which last nearly nine hours

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Daily Progress Post 2/25/09

The first thing that I did was look up websites for landscape and map information. Then I worked on Index Cards the rest of the time. I still got some to do but I think Im ok.

Index Card # 9

http://www.euroave.com/maps/00mapx.php?xcity=moscow

Map of Moscow

I like this site because I really want to know if there is a river or some sort of canal in the city because I would like to add that into the video. There is and it is like a canal I will have to add that into the terrain so that it is more realistic. I really find landscape very important because it shows good detail and it makes the fighting accurate like high ground.

Index Card # 8

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/distances.html?n=166

Cities around Moscow

The reason that I want the cities around Moscow is to make this a little more realistic by putting smaller cities further away. I also know that many if not all cities that Napoleon went through he burned I can do that in this program like damage control so that any city will be in flames. I also want to do like a damage on the troops marching into the wintery wheather because the French were not prepared for this kind off winter just to make it even better.

Index Card # 7

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve-pound_cannon

Napoleons Standard Cannon

Napoleon used these standard 12 pound cannons for most of his front because they were mass produced and were easy to operate and a very powerful ordance. It was also a very versitle weapon but the only thing that this cannon website is doing for me is telling me what age this war was from so that I can haev a accurate time frame for the technology when making the map and weapons and troops for this video.

Daily Progress Post 2/23/09

At home I worked on getting the program installed on my computer so I can edit them to make them better and I worked on the Index cards.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Index Card # 6

    The Invasion

This is arguably the best site that I have found it has everything and it suprisingly accurate for a wikipedia site. I like this site because It gives you a troop count for everything like where the recruits were from and what kind of troops were used.
  • What I thought that was interesting is that the Russians were outnumbered nearly 4/1
  • That means that for every death of a Russian he had of killed 4 French troops to actually have a chance on winning the war against the French

Index Card # 5

http://www.napolun.com/mirror/web2.airmail.net/napoleon/Napoleon_tactics.htm

Tactics and Style

This website talks more about tactics and style of the formations that Napoleon used in his fighting. A very unique Battalien Square formation which drove enemy crazy by multiple screens and lots of distractions.
What I thought that was interesting was that he overexaggerated the fighting before it began so that they could be on the safe side of things. When the real thing was happening.

Index Card # 4

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/movie-maker.aspx

Windows Vista Ultimate

This Website was just to identify if I could get a movie maker program on my computer. I just looked up the features like cropping and turning it into a HD movie and using contrasting adjust tools so that I can make it a little better.

Daily Progress Post 2/23/09

Today I showed a sample of the core of my project and I found out that I can edit the movie that I have created to improve quality. Create like text boxes so I can explain what is going on. Instead of saying everything. But my Ultimate goal is to make the quality better and cut of the menu so that it will be easier to see the troops and everything that is going on.

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Daily Progress Post 2/19/09

I worked on the Final Index Card and tagged all of the sites on Delicious.com. Next I will work on the battles so I could show you a sample of what Im doing next class sorry I couldnt be in class today I got the flu so I have been working on this at home. Ill be there next class so yeah

Index Card III

http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Marina/6150/cos.html

The troops used in the Napoleon war.

This site is mainly about the Russian troops and equippment and how they used special warriors called Cossacks which were basicly calvary. But there was a lot of them so they could tear through ranks of the charging Napoleon infantry. Whats also interesting is the Cossacks took over the Russian Government like they were there own party. But really all that a Cossack means that those people were adventurers and enthusest about Russia. But they did play a significant roll on fighting off the French.
"Always on horseback, always ready to fight, always on the alert". I like this quote because it shows the disciplen of these soldiers.

Daily Progress Post for 2/17/09

Today I worked on the index cards I got 2 out of the 3 done I think that is reasonable and I looked up lots of websites for tactics. For next class I will be working on the final index card and actually starting to make the scenery and all that stuff. So that I will be ready to start with tactics.

Index Card II

Napoleons Early years

Napoleon was an exellent administrator, which created a strong central government, he revised and organized the French laws into a collection of codes. He had control of the police system, forign policy, domestic affairs, It also talks about his downfall and how he really hyperextended his power because he was taking over to much land and not enough people to stay and guard it and this caused problems by nationalism, and French troops attacking towns because of poor economic times
Napoleon had asked to be buried "on the banks of the Seine, among the French people I have loved so much." He really liked France and their way of life so he really wanted to be buried with the country he loved.

The Tactics used in the War Against Russia

The website is really self explanitory it shows his campagins and all of the tactics used. According to this website he favored lots of flanking because it was highly effective. Napoleons armies also had really high morales so they were able to win fights even when they were outnumbered or the enemy had better technology. Because of the superior tactics. Napoleon dominated he was able to use. What I thought that was interesting was that he liked to send a elite squad of troops almost like a modern day special forces and had them secure the most valuble position to fight in so that he could get an edge early. Then heavier troops would be sent in and then light with really fast mobile artillery. This caused lots of traps which he could surround them. He prefered tons of speed and lots of flanking. The only weakness that he had was flanks if his flanks were taken down he could be defeated and it happend three times.
"There are in Europe many good generals, but they see too many things at once."- Napoleon, he thought that other Generals looked at things to large and he looked at things small and took things step by step which he believes gave him lots of success.

Daily Progress 2/17/09

On 2/17/09 I found a website that is excellent because it shows almost all of his campaigns that he did and the tactics that were used for it. But for the rest of the day I worked on the three index cards. I am almost ready to start the construction of the landscape of the battles.

Daily Progress 2/11/09

Answers to Product Prospectus

1. The tactics that Napoleon used during the campaign against Russia
2. Well I will be making a battle around the outside of Moscow showing tactical advanages around that area.
3. Well I chose it because I like using computer programs to recreate things that happend in history like mainly battles. Like last year when I was a freshman I used the same program to recreate D-day and Civil War battles in Modern American History.
4. Well Im really a proffesionalist and I believe that its got to be perfect the battle scenes Id also like to be able to fully explain the topic and all of the aspects of it so that I am ready for any questions people ask me at the end of my presentation.
5. Well at the end of the project I will have a better understanding of Napoleons years and I would like for this knowledge to stay with me so I could use it in the future as a reference to a questions because I really think that any battle that took place in the past has helped shape our tactics today.
6. First I would like to start with the battle scene I have a feeling that this time period and the technology that both sides had are going to be tough to judge so Im going to start making it first and through lots of trail and error I make it perfect and easy to understand like weapons and cannons and stuff like that.
7. Well next would be studying the tactics of it and applying them into the battle will be tough because when the troops to attack each other they wont really hit a different formation so I will have to make a few custom tactics on the layout of the area that they are fighting in so that it can all work out. I have a question for you what is the limit time we can take on the whole presentation. In the program that Im using there is blood violence so hopefully it will be ok.
